Israel launched at least 12 airstrikes at Yemen’s Hodeida port on Tuesday. This is the latest in a campaign targeting Yemeni civilian sites and infrastructure.
Israeli forces claimed the ports were being used to move weapons “to carry out terrorist plots against Israel and its allies.” Israeli War Minister Katz said Yemen would “pay a heavy price for their attempts to attack the Israeli state.”
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Army, said the air defense “sincidentally caused great disruption to enemy aircraft, forcing some of their combat layers to leave the airspace, preventing penetration into the depths.”
Ansarlah leader Abdul Malik al-Houti said the attack on Tel Aviv would result in “no achievement” and expose Israel to “crime.”
The attack followed a fatal attack in Sana, which killed more than 30 journalists. After Israel assassinated the Yemeni Prime Minister and other senior officials last month, Yemeni forces launched strikes at Ramon Airport and military facilities in Negev, vowing that a campaign of solidarity with the Gaza people will not cease. ”
