At least 51 Palestinians were killed on Saturday, including 43 in Gaza City, as Israeli forces intensified attacks on the besieged enclaves.
Among the deaths were at least two children in a school-turned shelter west of the city where survivors described the scene of fire and chaos.
“We found tents on fire in many deaths, including children and women,” said Ibrahim Aheem, a boy who survived the strike. “There was no medical assistance or anything like that. We had to take our stretchers to Red Crescent Hospital.”
Another deadly attack struck Gaza’s Tafa district, killing at least six people, according to WAFA News Agency.
Palestinian civil defense says that nearly half of Gaza’s population (450,000) have fled since Israel launched its major business in August.
Secretary of State Antonio Guterres warned that Gaza had experienced “the worst level of death and destruction” he saw in his life, urging the international community to not be “intimidated.”
Since October 2023, the Israeli war with Gaza has killed at least 65,141 Palestinians and injured 165,925 while thousands remain buried under the roof rub.
