Israel launched an attack at two newspaper offices in Yemen earlier this month, killing 31 journalists and becoming the second fatalest attack on the media ever recorded by the committee to protect journalists (CPJs), Al Jazeera reported.
The CPJ reported that Nasser Al-Khadri, one of the outlets targeted by editor-in-chief Nasser Al-Khadri on September 26, described the killing as “an unprecedented massacre of journalists.”
The Israeli attacks also show that Israel’s deadly practices targeting reporters and newsrooms labeled as “terrorist” propaganda have been firmly established throughout the Middle East, the CPJ report said.
“Israel’s attacks on Yemen reflect previous strikes over Gaza, Lebanon and Iran, where it repeatedly fails to distinguish between military targets and journalists, and justifies assassinating journalists as terrorists and propagandists by plastering them without credible evidence,” read the CPJ statement.
