On Sunday, Israel killed three children and father in Bint Jubail, southern Lebanon, and a drone strike hit a motorcycle as the family’s car passed.
According to Lebanese media, local witnesses said the missiles tore the vehicle apart, killing the father and three children instantly, with the mother and another child surviving.
Speaking from New York, President Joseph Own denounced the attack as a violation of international resolutions, urging the UN and global authority to force Israel to withdraw, declaring “there is no peace in the blood of our children.”
The strike comes in a postwar unsettling landscape where ceasefire violations and Israeli attacks continue to put civilians in southern Lebanon at risk.
Many have criticised Beirut’s recent policy choices — claiming that the government tried to curb resistance and pursue disarmament — and say that this approach eroded rather than strengthening deterrence against Lebanon’s cross-border attacks.
For Bint Jbeil’s grieving family, the episode is both a personal tragedy and evidence, critics say, as long as the nation cannot protect civilians and ensure meaningful international responses.
