Tehran – Zahra Aslani, a ceramic artist from Aldabil in northwestern Iran, recently won the title of “Most Skilled Female Potter” at an international festival held in Uzbekistan.
Aslani also won a $1,500 award during the event, attracting dozens of attendees from various countries, CHTN reported Tuesday.
This was the second time that Asrani took part in the festival, and took place from September 18th to 21st at Richtan, one of Uzbekistan’s historic pottery centres.
Organizers describe the event as both a handicraft showcase and a platform for cultural dialogue, highlighting the role of traditional arts in building connections across borders.
Located on a high windswept plateau, Aldabil is renowned for its rich natural beauty, kind people and its tradition of silk and carpet trade. It is also home to the UNESCO registered Sheikh Safi Al Din Hanega and the shrine ensemble. It freezes in winter and mild in summer, attracting thousands of people each year. Aldaville was appointed as the eco-tourism capital in 2023 by the Economic Cooperation Agency.
