TEHRAN – Iranian Deputy Minister of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts congratulated Iranian artisans on Tuesday for winning the Top Award at the International Handicraft Festival in Kokhand and Rishtan, Uzbekistan.
Mariam Jalali Dakordi, Deputy Minister of Handicrafts at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, said in a statement that the results represent an example of “effective cultural diplomacy” and a positive contribution to relations with neighbouring countries.
“The remarkable success of Iranian artisans, characterized by winning the Top Iranian Artisan Award, is not only an artistic achievement, but also an important achievement in strengthening cultural diplomacy and ties with neighboring states, particularly Uzbekistan,” said Jalali Dékordi.
She praised the participation of Iranian artisans from various provinces, explaining it as part of the ministry’s strategy to promote cultural assets and advance regional diplomacy.
The awards included Ali Akbar Ramezani’s “Best Artisan,” Zafra Aslani’s “Best Mess Potter,” and Karim Hahigi Sirdare’s “Traditional Potter.”
“Today, the world respects Iranian handicrafts. These honors are the result of the dedication and creativity of hardworking artists,” said Jalali Décoldi.
The festival, held in the Uzbek cities of Kokhand and Richtan from September 19th to 21st, featured attendees from over 70 countries and hundreds of international and local artists. Iran was represented by a delegation of 20 artisans, the report said.
