TEHRAN – The Cultural Heritage Protection Unit needs to strengthen support and cooperation with the Iranian police counter-terrorist forces known as Faraja, Minister of Cultural Heritage Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri said in a meeting with the commander of Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radhan, a police brigadier general in Friday.
According to the IRNA, the Minister called for the preservation of cultural monuments and heritage as a national and strategic mission.
He said preserving the country’s cultural heritage protects Islamic Iran’s identity and civilized assets.
The Cultural Heritage Conservation Unit needs to strengthen cooperation with Faraja, which could be a successful model of responsible interagency synergy against cultural threats, he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to the Zionist regime’s 12-day war imposed on Iran, expressing sympathy for the families of martyrs and the injured.
He thanked Commander Faraja and the forces under his command for the efforts and struggles, adding, “What is more important than ever today is to maintain national unity, resist threats and strengthen the spirit of hope for society.”
Brigadier General Radhan also emphasized the same status as the civilization of the country’s cultural heritage, saying that preserving ancient heritage is not just the mission of the institution, but also the national duty and shared responsibility.
He noted that security forces are ready to support the mission of the all-capable cultural heritage protection unit.
The conference concluded with both emphasising the development of joint cooperation and the use of law enforcement and management capabilities to effectively protect the country’s historical and cultural heritage.
