TEHRAN — The Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts on Thursday described Fars province as a showcase of Iranian culture and art, underscoring its deep historical and civilizational importance.
Speaking at a meeting of the Tourism Council in Sepidan County, Seyyed Reza Salehi Amiri emphasized that Fars was home to a grand civilization dating back thousands of years, from the Achaemenids to the Safavids.
The minister said the province’s rich historical sites clearly demonstrate its importance as the cradle of Iranian culture.
“Fars is a land of vast history and a central figure in Iranian civilization, identity and thought,” Salehi-Amiri said. He added that the state has many hidden mysteries, the true value of which will be revealed in the future.
The Minister also stressed the importance of making the younger generation better aware of their civilizational roots. “Introducing the cultural, historical and natural capabilities of Fars will deepen the connection between young people and ancient Iran,” he said.
Salehi Amiri then pointed to the National Tourism Development Plan as a framework to guide the country’s tourism growth in the coming years. He pointed out that this plan was for the first time developed and officially issued at Fars canton level.
He emphasized that focusing on heritage and natural assets will pave the way to achieving sustainable tourism development.
“Tourism is a cultural and social process that strengthens family bonds and social capital. It plays an important role in fostering emotional connections and raising community spirit,” the Minister added.
In his concluding remarks, Salehi Amiri highlighted three important aspects of Iran that should be presented to the world. First, the civilizational aspect rooted in Iranian history and identity. Second, there is the cultural aspect centered around Nowruz (an ancient festival) and the Persian language. and thirdly, the spiritual face represented by such notable figures as Sadi, Rumi, Hafez, Khayyam, and other mystics and poets who embody the noble spirit and thought of the Iranian people.
The minister also announced the launch of the National Celebrations Project across Iran’s 31 provinces, adding that the initiative includes cooperation among five ministries to coordinate cultural activities across the country in a more targeted and organized manner.
