TEHRAN — The Tehran to Kashan tourist car rally started Thursday morning with 75 vehicles from Sharak Ekbatan in Tehran and ended in Matinabad, Kashan province on Friday, organizers said.
According to the Iran Touring Automobile Club, the tourism rally aims to promote a safe, responsible and family-oriented travel culture.
The event brought together families, nature lovers, and road trip enthusiasts and emphasized land tourism, respect for local communities, and the preservation of historical and cultural structures in rural areas.
After the official start in Tehran, participants moved towards Isfahan province and assembled in Matinabad area, known as one of Iran’s prominent natural and desert tourist destinations. This rally was supported by a dedicated team and the active participation of the Touring and Automobile Club.
Compliance with traffic laws and safe driving habits were strongly encouraged throughout the trip. While enjoying the natural scenery along the route, participants took part in cultural and educational programs focused on sustainable and responsible tourism.
Beyond the recreational and family aspects, this gathering symbolized the promotion of social cohesion, community spirit, and group travel culture. It also provided an opportunity for the younger generation of tourists to better understand the importance of environmental protection, preservation of cultural heritage, and active interaction with local communities.
Kashan is located on the route connecting Tehran with major destinations such as Isfahan, Shiraz and Yazd, and is known for its rich history and beautiful surrounding villages. Among its highlights are the richly decorated traditional houses of Burjerdi, Tabatabai, Ameri and Abbasi, which remain popular tourist attractions for travelers.
Additionally, Kashan is home to some archaeological gems. Most importantly, Tepe Sialuk produced interesting pottery sherds, metal tools and household utensils made from stone, clay and bone, dating back to the 4th millennium BC.
The name Kashan is closely linked to the UNESCO-listed Abyane, located approximately 90 km to the south. This ancient village is known for its gorgeous architecture, the traditional clothing of its inhabitants, and the old Persian dialect that dates back to the Sasanian era. Abuyane is truly a piece of living history. The way of life and traditions of the people have survived largely unchanged for hundreds of years. It will be an unforgettable day trip to Kashan.
