The Palestinian Islamic Jihad rejected Israeli military claims that it was planning an attack as “false claims and slander,” Al Jazeera reported Sunday.
Israel on Saturday carried out an airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, saying it targeted members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) who were planning attacks on Israeli soldiers.
PIJ said in a statement that the Israeli military’s “claim that al-Quds Brigade leaders in Nuseyrat were preparing for imminent action yesterday is a completely false claim and a fabrication by the occupation forces to justify their invasion and violation of the ceasefire.”
PIJ called on ceasefire brokering countries to “force” Israel to stop attacking Gaza. Israel has carried out repeated attacks across the territory since the ceasefire took effect three weeks ago.
