[TEHRAN]A cave museum will be opened in Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan province, following the inscription of the prehistoric ruins of Khorramabad Valley as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ata Hassanpour, Director of the Lorestan Province Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, told ISNA that in pursuit of the provincial program and budget managers, it was decided to consider credits for converting the cave into a museum site or museum cave.
“We plan to begin this action in about a month,” he said.
Professor Hassanpour explained, “When we talk about museum grounds or cave museums, it means recreating the life of prehistoric humans in the heart of prehistoric caves. Animal slaughter, animal hunting, the discovery of fire, creative techniques, stone tool manufacturing and other acts of miniature humans who lived in these caves in the past should be exhibited.”
“We have to visibly display the continuum of human life in caves, from the earliest times of history to the present day, and from the Stone Age to the historical era of cave-dwelling.”
“Also, all the items excavated from the cave should be displayed in a museum, and that museum is none other than the Falak ol Aflak Castle Museum, which we started last year. We hope that this important work will be completed with the completion of the museum items,” he continued.
