TEHRAN – Architecture students spent a day on Thursday visiting historic sites in Aran and Bidgol provinces to learn about traditional architecture, restoration methods and preservation of cultural heritage, local tourism officials said.
Mohammad Javad Abdulli, Head of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts at Alain Bidgol, said the visit aimed to provide students with practical experience with local architectural styles and ongoing restoration work on historic buildings in the region.
“This workshop aims to familiarize students with indigenous architecture and the process of restoring historic buildings,” Abdoli said.
“Students were able to observe restoration projects and important heritage sites currently being restored in the Kabilat area (of Aran and Bidgol).”
Abdulli said the ministry considers cooperation with academic institutions a priority to transfer technical knowledge and preserve the region’s architectural identity. “Such regular visits create a bridge between university theory and practical experience in the field of cultural heritage, strengthen students’ academic foundation and encourage them to use authentic Iranian architectural patterns in their future designs,” he added.
Located near the historic city of Kashan, Alan and Bidgol are known for their desert landscapes and heritage attractions, such as the Maranjab Desert and the underground city of Nushabad, attracting visitors interested in traditional Iranian architecture and culture.
