TEHRAN — Deputy Governor of Khorasan Razavi Governorate Mohammad Ali Nabipour announced that an agreement to develop tourism cooperation between Khorasan Razavi and Turkey is being finalized.
Speaking on the occasion of Turkey’s Cumhuriyet Bayram (Republic Day) on Thursday, he said that relations between Iran and Turkey have acquired a new dimension in recent years and are now on a path of strategic and balanced cooperation, according to Tasnim news agency.
“These relations are expanding not only at the national level but also in local issues, and the relationship between the two countries is developing at a strategic level.”
He added that negotiations are underway between Khorasan Razavi Governorate and Turkey to promote tourism. “We intend to utilize the cultural, religious and natural capabilities of this province to promote reciprocal travel between Iranian and Turkish tourists.”
Minister Nabipour said, “Our country has the potential to become a bridge between Iran and its neighboring countries, including Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. In this regard, the creation of joint tourism infrastructure and the development of direct flights connecting Mashhad with important Turkish cities such as Istanbul and Van are on the agenda.”
He said strengthening economic and cultural ties alongside diplomatic cooperation can lay the foundations for sustainable stability and cooperation in the region.
Turkey is considered an important trading partner of Iran in the fields of tourism, energy, transportation and small-scale industry, and this enhanced cooperation will be of benefit to both countries.
It is worth noting that Turkey’s “Republic Day” ceremony was held by the Turkish Consulate General in Mashhad. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Nabipour of northeastern Iran, the head of the foreign mission in Mashhad, as well as some government officials, economic activists, and representatives of the private sector.
