TEHRAN – The 17th Kerman Handicrafts Exhibition opened on Tuesday evening at the permanent venue of the Kerman International Exhibition in southeastern Iran in the presence of the inspectors of the Handicrafts Department of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Governor General and the provincial handicrafts managers, with the participation of artists from each province.
Parvaneh Heydari, the state’s deputy commissioner for handicrafts, said many handicraft artisans and activists from across the country have gathered here to showcase their abilities, ISNA reported.
She further added, “Handicrafts are a cultural and value-creating activity and we have all the raw materials and producers in the country, which in the current situation can be linked with handicrafts to help the economy.”
Heydari called on authorities in Kerman province to cooperate with handicraft artisans, adding: “We are working with artisans in the handicraft sector to take steps to create a market and sell their products.”
She emphasized that handicrafts require the support and sympathy of all state institutions and the private sector to grow.
Morteza Nikrou, director of the Kerman Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department, said that for the first time, handicraft artists from all over the country participated in the exhibition.
He noted that more than 280 exhibition booths display handicrafts, adding that 80 booths belong to Kerman province. “Artists from 16 handicraft cities around the world in our country will also participate in the exhibition.”
“We are also planning to hold a handicraft exhibition on the eve of Nowruz (March 2026). Last year, it was held in Rafsanjan and the exhibition was well received,” said Nikroo.
The 17th Kerman Handicraft Exhibition will be held until November 7th.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Thursday and Friday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

With an area of over 180,000 square kilometers, Kerman province is one of the largest provinces in Iran. It has a variety of climates, including warm, semi-arid, extremely dry, mild, and cold.
