TEHRAN – The Aras Free Zone Organization was formally recognized as a member of the United Nations Tourism Organization at the organization’s 26th General Assembly held recently in Riyadh, Iranian officials said.
Hadi Moghaddamzadeh, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Aras Free Zones Organization, said at an important event on the sidelines of the organization’s 26th General Assembly and 124th Executive Board meeting held in the Saudi capital on November 8, that the Aras Free Zones Organization has become a full member of the United Nations Tourism Organization, according to Miras Alia (CHTN).
He called the accession of the Aras Free Zones Organization a turning point in introducing Iran’s tourism capabilities on the world stage, and said that with the approval of this accession, the Aras Free Zones Organization has joined the most prestigious institutions operating in the global tourism industry as a destination management organization in the form of an affiliated member and has started official cooperation with the United Nations Tourism Organization.
Explaining the positive effects of this accession, he said: “UNTourism plays a vital role in improving tourism standards and facilities, especially in developing countries. This accession opens a window to the latest scientific achievements, innovations and best practices of the public and private sectors around the world in key areas such as strategic planning, international marketing, human resources development and advertising.”
Mr. Moghadzadeh pointed out the far-reaching benefits of this cooperation and cited future opportunities: “We now benefit from the full range of technical and advisory support of this organization, have a presence on an international platform, interact directly with the main players of the global tourism industry and access its rich electronic library. You can also organize global collaborative events, increase the visibility of reputable travel companies, promote the presence of foreign tourists in your region, access the latest global tourism statistics and reports, and join and act in the United Nations Tourism Organization’s professional network. One advantage is the group. ”
He added: “This position also provides the opportunity to actively participate in global conferences and collaborate and exchange experiences with other member members, including more than 500 leading organizations from the private sector, educational institutions and local governments.”
Moghadzadeh said the organization is made up of 160 member states, six member states, and more than 500 affiliated members from academic institutions, the private sector and civil society. He considered Aras’ presence in this group to be a source of pride and honor.
The Arras Free Zone Organization originally secured this membership in 2019, but was subsequently suspended for several years, officials said.
