TEHRAN – Ardabil Governorate plans to promote its tourist attractions to attract more tourists to the Persian Gulf countries, a provincial tourism official said.
Yahya Najalkabel, deputy director of tourism in Ardabil Governorate, told the coordination meeting that the region’s climate and natural environment make it a suitable destination for tourists from Persian Gulf countries.
“Given the climatic conditions and existing tourist attractions, Ardabil province is a suitable destination for tourists from the countries surrounding the Persian Gulf,” Najarkaber said, according to the Young Journalists Club News Agency.
He said the state is working with private operators to introduce Ardabil’s tourism potential and investment opportunities to the Persian Gulf market “with a particular focus on Oman.”
Najarkabel said efforts are also underway to work with neighboring provinces, including Gilan, to attract organized tour groups from these provinces.
“With the initiative of private operators and the cooperation of Ardabil and Gilan provinces, we can make this goal achievable,” he said.
He said tours from Oman usually take 15 days, adding that joint travel packages organized between Ardabil and Gilan could help host visitors from Oman and enrich their travels in the Islamic Republic.
The provincial capital, Ardabil, is located on a plateau in northwestern Iran, approximately 61 km from the Caspian Sea, east of Mount Sabaran, and 1,400 meters above sea level. Cold weather can persist in the city until late spring.
