TEHRAN — Fifty restoration workshops are currently active in Kerman province, said Farnaz Farahi-Moghaddam, deputy director of the Kerman Cultural Heritage Department.
She told ILNA that the contracts for 39 restoration workshops were from this year and 11 were from previous years and are still active.
Farahi Moghaddam said that some of the restoration workshops are located in historic and world-class locations in Kerman, and one of the restoration workshops is in Kerman’s Shazde Garden, where garden restoration and infrastructure are being studied and restored at the same time.
He also mentioned the restoration of historic aqueducts in Kerman province, adding that among the historic and world-class aqueducts in Kerman province currently undergoing restoration are Gohariz Aqueduct in Jhupar, Mahan Province and Qasemabad Aqueduct in Bam. Meanwhile, two world-class caravanserais, Ganjali Khan and Chakooran, have also been assigned specific credits this year to continuously monitor and supervise their restoration.
Falahi Moghaddam announced that among the historical monuments currently under restoration in Kerman province are the Shah Nematollah Vali Cathedral (home to the tomb of the 15th-century Iranian mystic and poet), Jeveriyeh Dome, the Historical Bazaar of Sirjan, and the Historical Bazaars of Rafsanjan and Kerman. Meanwhile, important distinctions have also been given to Samad Khan’s residence in the historic Shaare Babak in Kerman, she added.
