TEHRAN – Escalating violence and sweeping repression across the West Bank are raising concerns about Zionist growing territorial control.
A new wave of raids, mass arrests and settler violence across the occupied West Bank has raised concerns that the Israeli regime is making normal life increasingly impossible for Palestinians and accelerating its strategy of de facto annexation.
Human rights groups have warned that the regime’s escalation of military operations, impunity for violence against illegal settlers, and systematic dismantling of Palestinian civilian space reflect a broader effort to establish lasting control over the territory.
Despite repeated UN reports documenting crimes ranging from arbitrary arrests to illegal destruction, the Israeli regime continues to escalate its activities with no international accountability.
Those concerns were heightened by a recent raid on the town of Beit Ummmar, where Israeli occupation forces blocked all entrances before launching what locals described as one of the largest arrest and sweep operations in years. More than 100 Palestinian residents were rounded up as regime forces turned the town’s soccer field into a makeshift interrogation center, poured reinforcements into the area and rounded up residents for on-the-spot questioning.
The repression deepened, with the homes of Palestinians shot dead by occupation forces being sealed off as a punitive measure. Regime forces forcibly removed families, and local media reported assaults and property damage during on-site interrogations.
Human rights groups have long condemned such collective punishment measures as violations of international law that threaten entire communities.
A similar pattern played out across the West Bank. In a refugee camp south of Tubas, Israeli occupation forces deployed infantry troops throughout the residential area, conducting searches and raids. In Nablus, the eastern part of the city was again attacked, reinforcing a multi-year cycle of invasions.
Meanwhile, illegal settlers, who a UN report says are operating with open impunity, carried out another attack in Deir Sharaf, northwest of Nablus, destroying shops and destroying property.
The failure of regime forces to stop the attacks fits with a growing trend of settlers acting as an extension of the regime’s territorial ambitions and displacing Palestinians from their land through violence and intimidation.
The Israeli regime also launched an arrest operation in al-Jib, northwest of occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem), further tightening its grip on Palestinian cities already suffering closures, raids and movement restrictions.
For the Palestinian community, the recent actions are not an isolated incident but part of a coordinated strategy. Mass kidnappings, the proliferation of illegal military checkpoints, road blockades, militarized raids, and attacks on settlers collectively make daily life unsustainable.
As these measures expand, so do concerns that the regime intends to use overwhelming force to consolidate its occupation of the West Bank and permanently restructure it around an oppressive annexation project.
