Israeli forces carried out dozens of airstrikes and shelling in the southern and northern Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, violating a cease-fire agreement, Anadolu news agency reported, citing witnesses.
According to local sources, Israeli forces carried out airstrikes and booby-trapped vehicle detonations in the Israeli-controlled Yellow Zone in the southern Gaza Strip, in eastern Rafah and eastern Khan Yunis, blowing up residential buildings and facilities.
Witnesses said similar airstrikes and explosions were reported in the Al-Tufa and Shujaiya areas in eastern Gaza City, as well as artillery and occasional gunfire from Israeli military vehicles on the edge of the Yellow Zone.
On Friday, Israeli forces targeted Palestinian buildings in the military-controlled area of Khan Yunis in Gaza City, east of Braei refugee camp in central Gaza and east of Jabalia refugee camp in the north.
Under the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to occupy more than 50% of the Gaza Strip, with a “yellow line” separating areas under military deployment from areas inhabited by Palestinians.
Recently, the Israeli military has re-escalated its attacks east of the Yellow Line, causing widespread destruction and making nearby areas extremely dangerous for civilians.
Since October 2023, Israeli forces have killed nearly 70,000 people, mostly women and children, in the Gaza Strip, injured more than 170,800, and reduced the enclave to rubble.
