Medical officials reported on Monday that Israeli forces had killed four Palestinians in Gaza City and Khan Yunis since morning, with attacks continuing on an almost daily basis despite an October 10 cease-fire agreement.
Hospital officials who spoke to Al Jazeera said the victims were shot and killed during an ongoing Israeli military operation across the occupied territories.
These deaths highlight the continuing danger to civilians more than a month after diplomatic efforts to halt hostilities.
The Gaza government media office reported that since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, Israel has violated the agreement at least 497 times and killed 342 Palestinian civilians, with today’s attacks increasing that number to at least 500.
The death toll includes 67 children, with UNICEF recording an average of two children dying each day. Overall, at least 280 Palestinians were killed and 672 injured, and a further 571 bodies were recovered from the rubble, according to WHO data.
The agreement required access to humanitarian aid and a withdrawal to Israel’s “Yellow Line” border.
Instead, Israeli forces crossed the line 17 times, conducted 174 bombing operations, destroyed buildings 85 times, and captured 35 Palestinians.
Aid delivery has collapsed, with just 3,203 trucks entering Gaza instead of 13,200 needed, a compliance rate of 24 percent.
In a separate development, Hamas forces, accompanied by Red Cross personnel and an Egyptian committee, continued to search for the bodies of Israeli prisoners of war in Nuseyrat refugee camp.
