TEHRAN – Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province will hold a special conference on desert attractions for hikers on November 27-28.
Organizers said tourists and nature lovers will be invited to participate in the event, which will focus on tourism activities in the region’s desert regions.
Announcing this, Hossein Eslami, Director of the Rut Desert World Heritage Base in Sistan-Baluchestan Province, told Miras Alia (CHTN) that stargazing, local games, illuminations, traditional music performances and safaris were among the programs prepared for the event.
The Lut Desert, which straddles Kerman, Sistan-Baluchestan, and South Khorasan provinces, was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2016. It is known for its extreme temperatures, unique wind-driven topography, and seasonal desert ecosystem.
The region is home to yardangs, dunes up to 475 meters high, stony plains, and some areas have recorded the highest surface temperatures on earth, reaching 70.7 degrees Celsius.
With its unique natural and geological features, the Rut Desert is known as one of the world’s leading geological regions, especially due to the presence of cults and salt domes. These natural phenomena, together with historical and cultural monuments such as the villages of Neband and Desalm, create a unique atmosphere for tourists.
