The United Nations has warned of a surge in attacks by illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, highlighting the continuing humanitarian chaos in the northern region, Anadolu News Agency reported on Saturday.
“Our humanitarian colleagues have warned that Israeli military operations in the northern region (of the West Bank) are intensifying, causing new displacements, movement restrictions, school closures and service disruptions in communities already affected by recurrent operations,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a press conference on Friday.
Dujarric said Israeli military operations have affected more than 95,000 Palestinians since 2025, stressing that “this is due to Israeli military operations, curfews and other movement restrictions, forced displacement, and damage or destruction of private property and public infrastructure.”
“Meanwhile, settler attacks continue unabated,” he said.
Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Dujarric said that in 2025 there were at least “1,680 attacks by Israeli settlers resulting in casualties and property damage in more than 270 communities across the West Bank.”
