TEHRAN – The 5th meeting of the Joint Technical Committee on Tourism Cooperation between Iran and Armenia is being held in Yerevan with the aim of strengthening bilateral exchanges and promoting tourist traffic, and the session will end on December 9.
According to IRNA, during this session, an Iranian delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Tourism departed for Armenia in the presence of the Director of the Marketing and Foreign Tourism Development Department of the Ministry of Tourism and the Director of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of East Azarbaijan.
The development of tourism cooperation and consideration of solutions to promote tourist traffic, especially through road trips between the two countries, is one of the most important topics being pursued at the specialized meetings of the Joint Committee.
These discussions are on the agenda with the aim of strengthening cultural exchanges, increasing travel flows and expanding bilateral cooperation in related areas.
Plans are also being made to hold a joint meeting between Armenian private sector activists and representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s government sector during the three-day event.
In addition, a meeting between the Iranian delegation and the Armenian Deputy Minister of Health in the field of health tourism, a meeting with the Armenian Tourism Board, and a meeting with the Armenian Minister of Economy was scheduled.
The 4th Joint Technical Committee on Tourism between the two countries will be held simultaneously with the 15th Tehran International Tourism Expo in Iran in 2021, and the ongoing meeting is considered as a continuation of the process of strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Armenia is one of the important target markets for Iranian tourists and holds a special position for Iran in areas such as health tourism, shopping, and pilgrimage.
