TEHRAN – An Iranian artist has unveiled in Qatar four unique editions of the Holy Quran intricately engraved on metal plates.
These masterpieces, which vary in size and weight, demonstrate the artists’ exceptional craftsmanship and innovation, ISNA reported Tuesday.
Seifollah Mohammadpooram, a well-known artist who specializes in Quran carvings, created the Quran in four different sizes and weights: 3kg, 8kg, 12kg and 18kg, the semi-official news agency said. Each edition is made from metal sheets of varying dimensions and thickness.
The Quran, which weighs 3 kg, was manufactured using a metal sheet measuring 10 x 15 cm and 0.3 mm thick. The 8 kg version has a sheet size of 20 x 24 cm and a thickness of 0.4 mm, with 2 pages engraved on each sheet. Similarly, a 12 kg Quran consists of sheets measuring 20 x 20 cm and 0.5 mm thick, with 2 pages per sheet.
The largest Quran in the collection weighs 18 kg and is divided into three volumes, each containing 10 sections (juz). It was engraved on a sheet measuring 20 x 24 cm and 0.5 mm thick.
These extraordinary Qurans highlight the artistry and dedication that went into their creation. However, ISNA did not reveal the exact location or timing of the unveiling event.
