The Brussels-based Hind Rajab Foundation has filed charges against Israeli rabbi soldiers at the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity during Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip.
The charges are based on Rabbi Abraham Zarbiv’s criminal liability under the Rome Statute, the NGO said in a statement.
The NGO called on the ICC to arrest Zarbih, a member of the Dzivati Brigades, “without delay” and said his actions would not go “unchallenged.”
Zarbih appeared in a television interview on Wednesday in which he acknowledged his role in destroying civilian buildings, including homes, schools, hospitals and aid facilities in cities across Gaza.
It also said it incited violence and hatred, supported the killing of Palestinian civilians and advocated the destruction of communities.
Zarbikh boasted of operating a D9 bulldozer and detailed how he deliberately destroyed houses and destroyed Gaza’s infrastructure.
He also acknowledged that the Jivati Brigade has systematically targeted civilian areas, rendering entire areas uninhabitable.
Further evidence includes footage from February 7, 2024, showing Zarbih and his forces attacking unarmed Palestinian civilians in Khan Younis with grenades and live ammunition.
