The Israeli Army continues its massive military raids at the northern occupied west coast city of Jenin and its refugee camps, forcing thousands to flee their homes, Al Jazeera reported.
Wednesday, 30 days after Israeli forces launched an attack on Jenin, spread across other parts of the northwest shore, including Talcarem and its Nur Shamz refugee camp. At least 26 Palestinians have been killed in Jenin since January 21st.
The Army also deployed hundreds of soldiers and bulldozers, destroyed homes, tore critical infrastructure in overcrowded camps, and kicked out almost all of the residents.
“We don’t know what’s going on in the camp, but there are ongoing demolition and roads being dug,” said Mohamed Al Sabbag, head of the Jenin Camp Services Committee. .
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Mayor Jenin Mohammed Jala said Israeli forces “adopted a random pattern of destruction” in and around the camp.
The massive displacement of Palestinians from various regions of the West Bank in recent weeks represents the largest displacement venture in decades.
Built for the descendants of Palestinian refugees who fled and were forced out of their homes in Naqba’s 1948 Israeli creation, the camp was the main centre of resistance groups fighting Israeli occupation.
They were repeatedly attacked by Israeli forces, but the current operation began when a ceasefire was agreed in the Gaza Strip, where the fire was surrounded and shelled, but is unusually large.
Palestinian authorities figures show that around 17,000 people have now been kicked out of the Jenin refugee camp, and are mostly abandoned. In Nur Shams, 6,000 people, or about two-thirds of the population, were kicked out, and another 10,000 people left Tulkarem Camp.
“The rest are trapped,” said Nihad Al-Shawish, director of the Nur Shams Camp Services Committee. “Civil Defense, Red Crescent and Palestinian security forces brought them food yesterday, but the Army is still bulldozing and destroying the camps.”
Israeli raids destroyed dozens of homes, tore large numbers of roads, and cut off water and electricity.
Humanitarian officials have not seen such a move on the West Bank since the 1967 war, when Israel captured the territory west of the Jordan River along with East Jerusalem (AL-QUDS) and the Gaza Strip. I say that.
“This is unprecedented,” said Roland Friedrich, West Bank Director of UNRWA, a UN agency of Palestinian refugees.
Israeli forces are also continuing to arrest Palestinians in the West Bank.
Four people were taken into custody by Jenin on Wednesday, including two children.
Also, on Wednesday, an elderly woman was shot in her chest near the entrance to the Jenin refugee camp.
Wafa of the Palestinian News Agency said Israeli forces had sealed the entrance to the camp and soldiers stationed at the main entrance were shooting dead people trying to come nearby.
Elsewhere on the West Bank, Israeli forces raided and destroyed Hebron’s houses, while military bulldozers destroyed farmland.
