Tehran Israel is making desperate attempts to make a brave face, influenced by its failed military strategy in the Gaza Strip.
Israel was forced to reach a ceasefire with Hamas in January after more than 15 months of war in Gaza.
On Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of violating an armistice agreement that vowed to revenge against the resistance movement.
Netanyahu poses a threat following a statement from his army. This showed that one of the four bodies transferred from Gaza to Israel on Thursday did not contain prisoners of war.
Hamas said Siri Vivas’ body appears to have been mixed with other human bodies as a result of an Israeli airstrike targeting the location where she was being held. The resistance group added that prisoners were killed in Israeli indiscriminate airstrikes in Gaza that began in October 2023.
Netanyahu’s rhetoric followed his orders to the Israeli forces to carry out a “severe operation” against the occupied West Bank resistance fighters. This came after a bomb exploded on three empty buses in a parking lot in Batyam’s central Israeli parking lot outside Tel Aviv. The administration has condemned incidents relating to armed groups.
Israeli far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotric also called for an immediate return to fighting in Gaza and the West Bank.
Since the ceasefire came into effect on January 19, Hamas has released 25 prisoners of war in Gaza in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli prisons.
The threat to Israeli officials arises in the context of increasing public outrage over the return of four prisoners of war. Public backlash forced Netanyahu, known as Bibi, to cancel his plans to attend the reception of the bodies returned by Hamas.
Israeli opposition alleged that Netanyahu was held responsible for the deaths and delayed the exchange of prisoners for several months to protect his tenuous coalition.
The Israelites have also repeatedly denounced Netanyahu, abandoning their prisoners to serve his own political interests.
When Hamas launched a surprising military operation in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, more than 1,100 people were killed and about 250 were taken prisoner.
Despite the massacre in Gaza, Israel was unable to defeat Hamas.
The threat posed by Netanyahu, Sumotrich and others are consistent with Israel’s efforts to blur the regime’s setback in the war with Gaza.
