Baysig – China’s national parliament convened its annual session in Beijing on Wednesday, attracting international attention for the country’s significant advancement despite the continued trade dispute with the US.
The 14th National People’s Assembly (NPC) has launched a third session of the people of the conference.
President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders attended the opening meeting. China’s Prime Minister Li Qiang submitted the government’s work report at the NPC’s annual session. This has led to many journalists from around the world.
The Prime Minister has set targets for economic growth among other objectives.
China has set a target for “about 5%” growth in 2025 amid a fallout caused by escalating US tariffs on East Asian countries’ exports. Last year, its economy rose 5%, driven by stimulus packages, strong exports and high-tech investments.
“When setting growth rates at around 5%, we consider the need to stabilize employment, prevent risks, improve people’s well-being, as well as the potential for growth and support growth. The approximately 5% goal is well aligned with medium-term and long-term development goals, and emphasizes our determination to work head-on with difficulties,” Li said.

The Prime Minister added: “What we have achieved again proves, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, Comrade Xi is at the heart of its core and with the dedication of people across the country, we can beat the difficulties of pursuing development… The huge ships of China’s economy will continue to cut the waves and continue to sail steadily towards the future.”
Furthermore, in his remarks, Li said the central government supports Hong Kong and Macau to improve the economy and livelihoods of its people. In Taiwan, he said: “We will address the 1 China principles and the consensus of 1992, and will firmly oppose separatist activities aimed at Taiwan’s independence and external interference, and will promote the peaceful development of cross-store relations.”
Lee gave a speech just before President Donald Trump began his first speech to a joint US Congress session in his second term.
In his longest presidential speech to a record lawmaker, Trump ruthlessly attacked his enemy, denounced his predecessor, Joe Biden, and aired his old grievances. He was wrapped up in the Democrats.
Democrat representative Al Greene repeatedly suspended Trump before House Speaker Mike Johnson ordered Sergeant to oust Texas legislators.
Other Democrats either held the signs during their speech or left the room.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has pursued a trade war with China.
Trump’s new tariffs on imports from China came into effect Tuesday, doubled from 10% to 20%. China responded to the US move by announcing Tuesday that it would slap up to 15% extra charges for imports of major US agricultural products.
Trump’s trade war with China could denounce economic growth and raise prices for Americans who are still wise from years of high inflation.
CNN reveals Trump’s lies
In his Congress speech, Trump claimed that he got China to buy $50 billion worth of produce in his first term (2017-2021). CNN checks the facts that describe Trump’s claims as misleading. According to CNN, China has agreed to increase agricultural purchases of $12.5 billion in 2020 and $19.5 billion in 2021 as part of a trade agreement signed with the United States in January 2020. It happened in 2020, but not in 2021, when US agricultural exports increased by $6.4 billion in 2020 compared to 2020.

Nevertheless, according to CNN analysis, the agreement never specified that China must continue to maintain such purchase levels beyond 2021.
Trump’s Congress speech highlighted the US division in the NPC opening session, while a deep sense of unity and solidarity is prominent in China.
President XI and other Chinese leaders paraded into major auditoriums for standing ovations. In contrast, the atmosphere of Washington’s Congress was characterized by chaos and deep divisions.
The juxtaposition of the lawsuits at the Congress and the People of Beijing clearly shows that China has robust leadership backed by widespread social support, while the United States is fighting both internal and external challenges.
