The Syrian War Monitor reported on Saturday that more than 300 Alawi civilians have been recently killed by security forces and their allies as authorities clash with extremists loyal to Bashar al-Assad’s former government.
Security recovery is one of the most complicated tasks for new Syrian authorities, set up after Islamic-led troops attacked Assad in December.
They are now facing their fierce attacks by members of the Assad Alawi minority and have launched a major anti-manipulation in the Mediterranean center of ethnic groups caused by the fatal clash on Thursday.
The Syrian Human Rights Observatory reported on Saturday that “311 Alawian civilians were killed in coastal areas… by security forces and alliance groups.”
The observation deck was killed in “executions” carried out by security guards or government fighters, and was shown to be accompanied by “looting of homes and property.”
The death of civilians will bring overall sacrifices to 524 people, including 93 members of the new government’s security forces and 120 pro-Assad fighters.
State communications agency Sana reported early Saturday that “regressed remnants of government” launched an attack on national hospitals in a city on the coast of Latakia, adding that “general security forces are repelling the attack.”
In a speech on Friday, Syrian interim president Ahmed al-Sharah urged the rebels to “put their weapons down and surrender before it’s too late.”
“You attacked all Syrians and made unforgivable mistakes. Liposte has come, and you couldn’t stand it,” Shara said in a speech broadcast on Telegram by the Syrian presidency.
Western powers and Syrian neighbours underscore the need for new Syrian unity, seeking funds to rebuild a nation that has been destroyed by years of civil war under Assad.
The UK-based observatory has recently reported multiple “genocides” in the deaths of women and children.
“The majority of the victims were executed immediately by elements affiliated with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Home Affairs,” rights groups said Friday.
The observatory and activists have released footage showing dozens of bodies of civilian clothing stacked up outside the home nearby, with blood stains and women crying.
Other videos appeared to show a man in military clothing shot and killed people at close range.
