TEHRAN – Israel cut humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip in blatant violations of international humanitarian law.
Students were reading history books, but during World War II, the fighting party blocked people’s food in order to force the enemy to surrender. But these sadistic acts happen right in front of our eyes today.
Israel occasionally used hunger as a weapon during the war with Gaza. At the beginning of the war, they drained Gaza. It was nine days when the cruel regime has received full assistance to the enclave while Hamas and Israel signed a ceasefire agreement that one of its conditions is to allow a flow of aid to the blocked strip.
The Middle Eastern Eye has denounced more than dozens of human rights experts in Gaza, denounced Israel’s “weaponized hunger” in Gaza, and denounced humanitarian aid from entering the enclave.
The move “severely violates international law and the outlook for peace,” an Independent UN expert said in a statement Thursday.
“We are amazed at Israel’s decision to stop all goods and supplies again, including humanitarian assistance that will save lives into the Gaza Strip,” they added.
“As a right to occupation, Israel is always obligated to ensure adequate food, medical supplies and other relief services. By intentionally reducing important supplies, Israel is once again weaponizing aid.”
The press release added that such blockades violate international humanitarian and human rights laws and are considered war crimes and crimes against humanity under Roman law.
Al Jazeera TV reports that around 2.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are imminent with food and essentials.
Israeli authorities have blocked all humanitarian delivery to the blocked enclave. Some bakeries are unable to open due to a lack of fuel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has chosen to halt aid after the first phase of the ceasefire expired on March 1. He said Hamas rejected the US proposal to extend the Gaza ceasefire.
Thousands of aid trucks were surged every week under the ceasefire agreement that began on January 19th.
Food prices in Gaza are rising sharply, and food parcels may disappear soon.
If the lockdown continues, “at least 80 community kitchens could soon run out of stock,” the remaining food plots would “support half a million people,” warn by the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Cooperation (OCHA).
Even Britain, France and Germany, which have not been stagnant in Israel due to the Gaza genocide, have issued warnings about preventing aid in the war-torn coastal zones, calling the move “devastating.”
“Suspension of goods and supplies entering Gaza, as announced by the Israeli government, risks violating international humanitarian law,” read a statement by foreign ministers of three European countries. “Humanitarian aid should not be conditioned on a ceasefire or used as a political tool.”
This shocking crime has led to a massive rise in food prices.
“The recent decisions are unfair because our children are wrong. How will our children live in light of these high prices increasing in arbitrary ways?” Gaza resident Issa Mate told BBC Arabic.
Also, on Monday, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen ordered the halt of power transmission to Gaza, Israeli public broadcaster Kang reported.
Last Sunday, the Israeli Hayo newspaper reported that the Israeli government is willing to cut electricity and water if Hamas did not agree to extend Phase 1 of its ceasefire contract, rather than proceeding to Phase 2.
Israel’s savage and sadistic movements have not made war criminals very cruel in the course of history, especially as these horrifying acts take place in today’s world.
