The man who expanded London’s Big Ben and spent the day sitting in a historic clocktower with a Palestinian flag was arrested shortly after descending in the middle of the night on Sunday, police said.
Photos from the scene showed a cherry picker carrying him to an emergency crew on the ground carrying him, New Arab reported.
London metropolitan police, first warned climbers around 0700 GMT on Saturday, said the man had been arrested after a “long-term incident.”
The man sat barefoot on a shelf several metres of the landmark, despite the urgent crew urging them to come down from Elizabeth Tower in central London.
The negotiator got on the fire truck lift and used a megaphone to talk to the man, but social media footage shows him in a hoodie and a baseball cap, saying, “I’m going down in my own words.”
In the footage, the negotiators expressed concern about his leg injuries, saying there was “a considerable amount of blood” and that his clothes weren’t warm enough as temperatures drop after darkness.
An AFP journalist on the scene said the man appears to be bleeding from his leg.
The crowd gathered from behind police security, and supporters chanted “Free Palestine” and “You are a hero.”
Police have closed the surrounding area, including Westminster Bridge, and council homes have cancelled tours.
Westminster police later said all roads in the area had been reopened.

“On Monday, lawmakers and staff will need a full explanation of how this protester can avoid security very easily.”
On Friday night, pro-Palestinian protesters sprayed the lawns of Scotland’s President Donald Trump’s golf resort saying “Gaza is not for four.”
The Palestinian Action Group said it was a “direct response to the intent stated by the US administration to ethnically cleanse Gaza.”
Police Scotland told AFP it was investigating after receiving a report of the damage.
