Tehran-Delegations from the 18th edition of the Resistance International Film Festival, led by Mohammad Ali Shojaei Fard, the assistant secretary of the festival, arrived in Baghdad on Saturday with a mission to strengthen cultural and artistic exchanges between Iran and Iraq.
The visit will be the first international event in Iraq, which will be held until Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Public Relations Bureau of Resistance International Film Festival, the delegation’s main focus is to strengthen collaboration in film and media. This initiative is consistent with Iraq’s Basila Institute for its joint organization of various cultural events.
On the first day of the visit, officials from the Resistance Film Festival engaged in leadership and fruitful discussions at the Basila Institute, explored the capabilities of media organizations, and exchanged ideas for future collaborations.
The major agreements with the Basirah Institute include plans for co-producing short films that address key themes such as ISIS, Arbaeen Walk, and war on tyranny and Zionism.
Additional initiatives include cooperation in organizing resistance festival events in Iraq, co-production of film production, particularly the second part of Iranian director Hamid Zarnejad’s film “North from the North West” (“Southwest” at Camp Ashraf), which will introduce a film training course and a programme for artificial intelligence.
Esrafil Kariji, executive director of the event and head of the International Committee of the Resistance Film Festival, outlined the agenda of the delegation meeting, which included discussions with Iraqi Deputy Minister of Culture, Mohand Arakabi, interaction with Hash Al Shaabi’s media head, and discussions with Iraqi Deputy Minister of Culture, Mohand Arakabi, including visiting the bee skin and visiting the bee hives. district.
The delegation will also meet with Muzad Asadi from the Faculty of Art in Baghdad.
The head of the International Committee of the Resistance Film Festival emphasized that the visit, along with the holding of the joint event, highlighted the commitments of both the International Resistance Film Festival and the Basila Institute.
Kariji pointed out that the culmination of this visit was in line with the first Basila Film Festival and theatre festival, where the film “North to North” will be shown.
The Iraq debuted, the film was nominated in 13 categories at the 43rd FAJR Film Festival and has won three awards for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Director of Cinematography.
The film tells the story of Iraq’s strategy during the war with Iran (1980-1988). It plans to smuggle trucks filled with explosives across the border and explode in sensitive areas of northern Iran.
As the plan unfolds, Iranian intelligence agency will recognize the operation and begin monitoring the truck. However, the situation takes an unexpected turn when the truck mysteriously disappears in one of the country’s northern states, causing tension in pursuits and competition with time to prevent disasters.
The 18th International Resistance Film Festival will be held in Iran from May 17th to 24th.
The closing ceremony, scheduled for May 24th, coincides with the anniversary of Khorramshahr’s release.
The Revolution and Sacred Defense Film Association and the Revayat Foundation organize the Resistance International Film Festival every year.
