Tehran – The Iranian animated film Woolina and the No Birds, co-directed by Hossein Safarzadegan and Maysam Hosseini, has been screened in Vietnam, Iraq, Pakistan and Armenia.
The film expanded its reach after screenings in Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Lebanon, Mehr reported on Sunday.
With over 1.5 million viewers in Iranian cinemas, Woolina and the Birds set the record for the most growing Iranian animated film.
Previously, it was screened in Türkiye and Kazakhstan as “Kuzugiller” and “Romashka, The Pilot” respectively.
Animation, a production of 2023, is an 80-minute adventure comedy aimed at kids. It premiered in Iran at the 42nd FAJR International Film Festival in February 2024.
The story revolves around the hero’s dream of flying and the collective efforts of friends to achieve it. The young sheep dreams of flying, but she lives in a world where only birds are allowed to fly planes and soar in the sky.
Along with her and her father, she and her friends follow in the footsteps of her favorite heroic character, the Super Owl, join flight school and fight against all the possibilities to take part in a race that will change their lives forever.
