Tehran – The Iranian short film “The Sheep,” directed by Hadi Babaeifal, will attend the ongoing Rivern International Film Festival in North Carolina, USA, and two more festivals by the end of the month.
The 2024 production, the 13-minute story film will take part in the 42nd Busan International Short Film Festival and the German International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.
“Sheep” shows a little girl named Rose who lives with her mother in Tehran. Discovering that sheep in her neighbor’s backyard have been sacrificed in a traditional ritual, she decides to save as many sheep as possible. The cast includes Rose Tabatabaie and Gelavij Alam.
The Riverrun International Film Festival is an Oscar-qualified film festival held every spring in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This year’s festival edition will be held from April 11th to 19th.
Busan International Short Film Festival is a qualifying festival for the Oscar, Bahuta and Canadian Screen Awards. The 42nd edition of the festival will be held from April 24th to 29th.
Founded in 1954, Oberhausen, an international short film festival, is one of the oldest short film festivals in the world. It was held at Oberhausen, and is one of the major international platforms in a short form. Future editions will be held from April 29th to May 4th.
Hadi Babaeifal, 41, discovered interest in film at the age of 20 and bought her own camera. He studied film review, acting at the Karname Institute of Arts and Culture, and worked as a photographer on several feature film sets at the same time.
When he was 32, he graduated in 2018 and embarked on a supervisory degree in Tehran. His debut short film, “Deer,” premiered in the Generation section of the Berlin International Film Festival in 2022 and is the first part of his animal trilogy. “The Sheep” is the second film in the trilogy.
