Tehran – Iran’s Islamic Republic has participated in the 37th Bogota International Book Fair (FILBO) ongoing in Colombia.
Iran has been attending the fair for the third year in a row. Isna reports that Iranian pavilions feature children’s books, novels, poetry by great Iranian poets, and Islamic books in Spanish, and have been very well received by visitors to the fair.
A week after the fair began, the Holy Qur’an attracted the most attention of all the titles presented at the Iranian booth.
In addition to presenting the various book titles to the audience, other programs are being planned at the Iranian Pavilion, including the announcement of new books such as “The Beloved God,” “Masnavi for Children” (a selection of Rumi’s poems), and the novel “Eduardo Agneli.”
Some of the Iranian pavilions showcase exquisite Iranian handicrafts, while another section presents a Persian Nastalik calligraphy demonstration by one of the nation’s artists.
One of Latin America’s most important cultural events, the fair will open in Bogota on April 24th and run until May 11th. Publishers from 30 countries participated in this year’s fair edition.
Hosted by Corferias and The Colombian Book Chamber (CCL), the event will cross boundaries and become space for reflection, conversation, memory, meetings and publishing business. The 37th edition has the intimate, universal theme of “body language.” Spain is an honorary guest of the event.
The fair reaffirms its role as the epicenter of Latin American publishing operations in the first half of this year, along with a specialized conference that includes key spaces to strengthen the industry. When it comes to business, there are international business shows, fellowship programs and librarian missions. This will become the industry’s central stage in the first half of the year, along with 12 specialist conferences covering all actors in the chain.
