Tehran from Iran and France – The production of a joint play titled “Hope” (French “l’Espoir”) was recently held in Clermont Ferland, France.
According to the theatrical media and promotion consultant, the project was created with the goal of exploring intercultural cooperation that lived through the performing arts and bringing together young artists from both countries. Performance is about hope, hope for reconstruction, and the victory of light over darkness.
The production process included two in-person workshops in a joint online session between Tehran and Clermontferand, and finally the final workshop in which participants translated rehearsals and intellectual interactions into shared stage performances.
This intercultural work took place in French, Persian, English and Chinese in late April. “Hope” was designed in an episode format that incorporates a variety of performance styles, including documentary theater, object theater, movement, and song.
The film is directed by Iranian-born Neda Sharoki and France’s Yassaman Kajehi. Vocal coaching is provided by Hasmik Karapetyan, performers from both countries include Agathe Combettes, Elie Mpiana, Elina Naseri, Emil Amirian, Parmis Hamrahi, Romina Mohseni Far, Setareh Satari, Saba Mohammadi, Matin Mohammadhosini, Maryam Dashtabadi, No hanraragieni, Matin Mohammadhosini Jeanne Rondeau, Josèphine Vergé, Julie Huckel, Julie Robert, Lea Peguy, Pauline Cottin, Qiuhan Tu and Romain Poyer.
