TEHRAN – President Masuud Pezeshkian conveyed a message of resilience during a visit to the Fire Headquarters (IRIB) of Iran’s Islamic Broadcasting Republic on Saturday.
The symbolic tour comes days after a deliberate strike from the Israeli government on June 16 targeted national broadcasters during a live news program, thrustling studios into the darkness and killing at least three media experts.
“In our country today, everyone is a combatant, some are others in culture, the media, and defense and academia.”
With a blood-stained paper that vows to continue broadcasting “to the end,” accompanied by Ilib’s chief Payman Jeberg, who appeared on camera a few days ago, President Pezeschkian condemned a careful attack on press freedom.
The Tel Aviv bombing of Ilib is part of a broader pattern of Israeli invasion, which has claimed the lives of more than 400 Iranians since June 13, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
Footage of the moment when the missile is struck – Anchahar Emmami’s mid-broadcast – has been circulating worldwide and has elicited criticism from defenders of press freedom.
