Written, directed and produced by Tehran – Mehdi Sedighi, Iranian short animation “The Splint” exists in the official selection of the 20th Dieciminuti Film Festival, which will be held in Italy from September 22-27.
The five-minute animation, produced by the Documentary, Experiment, and Animation Film Center (DEFC), concerns a robot truck driver on an unpaved road that beats two birds and replaces old wooden power poles with new concrete ones.
Mehdi Sedighi holds a Masters degree in TV production and is the director of three animated films selected in over 50 international festivals.
Speaking about “sprints,” he said in a previous interview: “The part that speaks to me is the main character’s emotional arc, reflecting many of the challenges I faced. It captures the essence of resilience and personal growth, a deep, personal theme for me.”
As for the way he made the flick, Sedigi said: “I came up with a project about three years ago, and the motivation for completing it came from a desire to share the story with others.
The Dieciminuti Film Festival was created in 2005 and soon became one of the most important events dedicated to Italian short films.
The first 19th edition of the festival featured over 18,000 short films, including a total of 23,000 audiences.
What’s unique about the national scene festival is that it will become a real school for young people who want to explore the world of film. The section Esplorazioni, which allows viewers to contact short films that come from another country each year, is also highly appreciated.
