Tehran – The Iranian short film “Raana,” written and directed by Ahmad Monagemi, won the award at the 15th Social World Film Festival held in Sorrento, Italy from June 22nd to 29th.
After competing in the festival’s short film section, Monagemi won the best script award for flick, Irna reported.
“Raana” is about teachers facing moral challenges when they discover dark secrets within the educational community. Deciding to ignore the truth is painful for her.
However, the meaning of revealing the truth is enormous and can cause serious problems. With her heart torn between her professional duties and personal ethics, she ultimately decides to face the situation and reveal the truth, even if it means facing consequences.
Afsaneh Kamali, Shaghayegh Farahani, Alireza Ostadi, Amir Sam Mosavi, Amir Miar, Faramarz Roshanaei and Mahsa Shakouri are in the cast.
Born in Tehran, 36-year-old Ahmad Monagemi began his career in the world of theater and film in 2004. He received his bachelor’s degree in theater orientation in 2017 and a master’s degree in cinema cinema cinema from the University of La Sapienza in Rome in 2019.
He worked in theaters, directed several plays in Iran, and curated two works as Rome’s assistant director in the Sarah Papers. In Paris, he prepared the show “Ordis Iran” at Sarah Les Enphant du Paradis. During these last year he made three short films that have attended many international festivals.
