Tehran – The Iranian feature film “Madhifut,” directed by Ebrahim Azitzi, was awarded at the closing ceremony of the Danang Asian Film Festival 2025 (Danhu III) held in Vietnam on July 5th.
Best Screenplay Award for Asian Film Section was awarded to Radan Shahmad and Ebrahim Azitzi for writing the script for “Mudded Foot,” Irna reported.
The 89-minute film story is based on a true event. Masuud died in a football match due to a foul committed by a player on the opposing team, and his death is classified as a sports incident. However, his brother Musa suspects that the foul is merely an accident.
With the help of Masoud’s brother-in-law, Farzad, Musa discovers the operation of a betting website for soccer matches. This site allows you to bet on certain details such as the number of fouls in a match and the exact timing. This leads Musa to doubt a foul play against Amin’s brother, as it could turn Masuud’s sports case death into a murder committed by Amin with previous intentions.
Mohsen Kiaei, Hoda Zeinolabedin, Pouria Rahimi Sam, Matin Heydarinia, Hadis Biabangerd and Mohammad Bahrani are on the cast.
Danahu is an annual international film event hosted by the Vietnam Film Development Association in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Da Nang City to celebrate outstanding film productions in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region. The festival includes both competitive and non-competitive film categories, prestigious awards, exchange activities, outdoor film screenings, and a “talent development” workshop.
Compared to the previous two seasons, Danaff III has been developed very comprehensively in both size, organizational time and program content. From official management over the past two seasons over the five days, Danaff III has increased the official film festival time to seven days.
The total number of films screened in Danaff III increased to 100 compared to 63 films in Danaff II. But even more importantly, Danaf’s content this year was very rich. A new film program, “Asian Film Panorama,” has been opened. This has selected excellent Asian films that have been successful at international film festivals over the past year, and have been screened along with the films Danaf has chosen for international or Asian premieres.
This year’s expansion featured a showcase of themes, including films themed around the 50-year Vietnam War, the focus of Korean films, and panoramas of Asian and Vietnamese films. Viewers enjoyed not only screenings but also lively discussions with filmmakers, actors and critics.
The three international workshops sponsored important topics, including the development of young talent, lessons from the success of Korean films, and the legacy of films themed around the Vietnam War. The Danaff Talents programme was marked by a masterclass led by 52 emerging actors, 14 project incubators and a global expert.
