Tehran – The Last Act, a feature film co-produced by Iran and the US, will be directed and produced by Shahab Hosseini and will hit Iranian cinemas from October 1st.
The film, produced in 2022 by Seven Skies Entertainment Company, has been screened at over 15 international festivals and has won several nominations and awards over the past three years, Isna reported.
The film has won the best film awards at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, Gladiator Film Festival and Web3 International Film Festival.
The film’s story, an adaptation of the play “Darnier Act” by French novelist Gilbert Sethbron, is based on true political events that often occur in many territories, but was written anonymously without geographical specifications. Cessbron’s work is characterized by a great sensitivity to human suffering and an unwavering optimism about the possibilities of change and progress.
Filmed in the United States, it tells the story of a government critic who was charged and arrested while visiting his family. The conversation between the writer and one of the authors leads to an unexpected outcome.
Gia Mora, James Wagner, Armin Amiri, Mohammad Motalegh, Shelby Seiler, Esmaeel G. Adivi, Shailene Farabi, and Danill Vederikov are on the cast.
Shahab Hosseini, 51, is an actor, producer, director and screenwriter. He is known for his collaborations with Iranian Academy Award-winning director Asgal Farhadi with Elly About Elly (2009), A Separation (2011), and The Salesman (2016). His ads include the Cannes Film Festival for Best Actors, Silver Bear for Best Actors, and Crystal Simoe for Best Actors.
He has performed in over 60 films and 15 TV series over more than 20 years. He also directed four feature films, plays and television shows. “The Last Act” is his second directorial experience in the United States following “The Writer Dead.”
