TEHRAN – The Iranian short film “Like A Secret” by Saeed Zamanian won an award at the 12th Pink City International Short Film Festival held in Jaipur, India from October 1st to 12th.
Competing with 57 other short films from around the world, the Iranian film won Tarannom Ahangal’s Best Child Artist Female Award, Honalonline reported.
In “Like a Secret”, a nine-year-old girl, Balan, suffers from severe trauma due to bitter family events and her mother’s neglect.
She experiences terrifying nightmares both in her sleep and in her waking life, living between dreams and reality. Balan strives to find someone he can trust and confide in, someone with whom he can share his secrets.
Elnaz Šekerdoust, Sepideh Dastineh, Mansour Nassiri and Sahel Nanvar are also part of the short film’s cast.
Like a Secret has previously been a finalist at the 10th Oaxaca Film Festival in Mexico and the Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival in the United States, and won the Best Short Screenplay award at the Florence Film Awards in Italy.
Saeed Zamanian (40) is a screenwriter and director. He holds a master’s degree in theater direction from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tehran University.
He also completed a film class at the Youth Film Institute and has since produced three independent titles. He has already won several international awards.
