TEHRAN – The Iranian documentary “Two Sisters” directed by Farahbakhsh Farhidonia and produced by Yasser Talebi and Setareh Zareh won an award at Tokyo Document 2025 in Japan.
Mair reports that the film won the Al Jazeera Documentary Channel Co-Production Award at this year’s festival, which was held from November 4 to 7.

“With so many great films and teams, this approval means a lot to us and is a great encouragement to continue moving towards full funding and completion,” said co-producer Zareh.
“A huge congratulations to our creative team, director Farahbakhsh Farhidonia and cinematographer and co-producer Yasser Talebi. Their vision and artistry brought this story to life. It’s an honor to make this film and be on this journey with them,” she added.
Tokyo Docs is an international event aimed at supporting the overseas expansion of documentaries, including international co-productions. This will allow Japanese and Asian documentary filmmakers to network with domestic and international decision-makers who can help secure funding for Japanese and Asian documentaries and support their overseas broadcast, distribution, screening and sales.
This year’s festival was held in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. During the festival, local and international producers, broadcasters and distributors came together to explore new collaborations.
