TEHRAN – The Iranian play “Today Becomes a Tree” written by Faramarz Gholamian and produced by Mohammad Din Dashti won four awards at the 5th Al-Din International Festival.
ISNA reported that at the festival, which was held in Muscat, Oman from November 24th to 30th, Iran’s only representative work, “Today Becomes a Tree,” won Best Drama Director and Best Music for Faramaz Gholamian, Best Puppet and Set for Ali Faridani, and Best Actress for Sagar Tizro.
Iran’s participation and recognition in this event is a meaningful step in cultural diplomacy, highlighting the depth, elegance and creativity of Iranian theater.
The Al-Din International Festival, held biennially in Muscat, is a major theatrical event. It will feature adult, children’s and street theater performances by local and international groups.
This year’s festival featured 18 theatrical performances representing 12 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa, selected from over 250 international submissions, with the theme “Welcome the World… to the Sultanate of Oman”. The festival was attended by 21 judges, 250 international guests and over 100 media outlets.
Organized by Al-Din Cultural Arts Theater Company, the festival is held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Social Development and the Oman Automobile Association.
The festival includes contests, workshops, and dialogue sessions, and attracts participants from all over the world. Incorporating digital innovations such as NFTs to enhance Omani cultural tourism and celebrate Omani heritage.
Since its creation in 2015, Al-Din International Festival has grown into a major cultural event in Oman, reaching over 14 million digital viewers last year and establishing Muscat as a center for cross-cultural arts exchange.
