TEHRAN – The Persian translation of “The Fear of Others” by Christophe André, Patrick Legeron and Antoine Perissolo is now available in bookstores across Iran.
The book was translated by Simin Ramezani and published by Quonus Publishers in 328 pages, ILNA reported.
This book was originally published in 1995 and a fully revised and revised third edition was published in 2022. It has been translated into German, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Romanian, Japanese, and Korean.
This book lays out all the work that Christophe André and Patrick Legeron were doing at Sainte-Anne Hospital to help patients suffering from excessive social anxiety.
The program, aimed at both caregivers and patients, has helped raise awareness of a condition known as social phobia, which has previously been ignored by doctors and psychologists. It also showed that shyness can ruin many people’s lives.
Considering the incredible longevity of this book (it has been used as a reference book on the subject for more than 25 years) and the evolution of social anxiety due to the evolution of society itself (especially social networks), the authors, in collaboration with their colleague and friend Professor Antoine Perissolo, today the best French expert on this subject, have decided to publish a completely updated new edition.
Fears of others, such as stage fright, shyness, social phobia, and obsession with blushing, are more common and more painful than ever. Telework and virtual meetings have pushed the most vulnerable in favor of screens and reduced real-life interactions. Social networks facilitate harassment. The cult of self-image has reinforced doubts and complexes that prompt us to avoid the gaze of others.
Readers will find in this book everything they need to understand the mechanisms of social fear, and above all, all the means (self-work, medication or psychotherapy) to gradually succeed in freeing themselves from fear.
