TEHRAN — China’s ambassador to Tehran said northern Iran’s Gilan province has rich natural resources and important economic and tourism attractions, making it an attractive destination for Chinese investors.
Ambassador Kong Pei-wu pointed out on Sunday that the province’s favorable capacities for economic growth and tourism development could open new opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Iran and China in related fields.
“We support Iran as a friend and we will not allow sanctions to affect our business,” he said on the sidelines of a visit to various economic and tourist sites in the border city of Astara, ISNA reported.
“We will not accept or listen to unjust pressure from the United States. In fact, we will show our opposition to unjust pressure from the United States and will not tolerate any disruption of exchanges between our two countries,” ISNA reported.
The Chinese ambassador to Iran went on to say, “I would like to thank the authorities of Tehran, the capital of the friendly Islamic Republic of Iran, and Gilan province, the governor of Astara city, the commissioner of customs, and all relevant officials for their support and assistance for the smooth exit of Chinese nationals during the 12-day war (Israel’s invasion of Iran that began on June 13 and ended with a ceasefire on June 24).” People. ”
He added that in view of the war situation in Iran, the Iranian authorities have allowed the Chinese nationals to exit the country through the Astara land border in Gilan province with full cooperation and support. “Therefore, there was no interference in our work. The ambassador said that the border city of Astara, due to its strategic location, has land, rail and sea borders and is considered a suitable location for trade and commerce.
He added that the city is one of the beautiful natural manifestations of Iran and Gilan province, with beautiful mountains, seas and forests, and could become a suitable region to attract Chinese tourists.
